There is no officially released ea sports cricket for ps5. EA has not brought its cricket series to the PS5, so you cannot download or buy an EA cricket game made for that console.
If you want cricket on PS5, there are other games to consider, including Cricket 24 and Cricket 22. Here’s how they differ, what to check before buying, and why older EA Cricket games won’t work on your console.
Is ea sports cricket for ps5 available?
No. There is no official EA Sports Cricket game for PS5. Searching the PlayStation Store or retailers for an EA cricket title may bring up misleading listings, so check the game’s publisher and supported platforms before paying.
EA’s older cricket games belong to previous console generations. For example, EA Sports Cricket 07 was released for platforms such as PlayStation 2 and PC, not PS5. A PS5 can play many PS4 games through backward compatibility, but that does not make PS2 games compatible with it.
That distinction matters if a listing uses terms like “PS5 compatible” or “PS5 edition” without clearly naming the actual game and platform. Compatibility is not the same as a PS5 release. A compatible PS4 game remains a PS4 game running on a PS5.
What cricket games can you play on PS5?
The main cricket games to look at are Cricket 24 and Cricket 22, both from Big Ant Studios and published by Nacon. They are not EA games, but they offer cricket gameplay on PlayStation consoles. Check the exact PlayStation version on the store page or box, since availability and editions can vary by region.
| Game | PS5 option | What to expect | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cricket 24 | PS5 version available | A more recent entry in Big Ant’s cricket series, with multiple teams, formats, and career options. | Players who want the newer of these two games. |
| Cricket 22 | PS5 version available | An earlier entry with cricket modes and career play; it may be worth comparing if you find it at a lower price. | Players looking for an older alternative. |
| EA Sports Cricket 07 | No PS5 version | An older EA title for previous platforms, not a PS5 game. | Players with access to a compatible older system, not a PS5-only setup. |
Before buying either Big Ant game, check the current PlayStation Store listing for its edition, included content, and online features. These details can differ between physical and digital versions, and online services can change over time.
How to choose between Cricket 24 and Cricket 22
Start with the version that matches how you want to play. If you care about a newer release and its specific teams or modes, compare Cricket 24’s listing with Cricket 22’s before deciding. If price is your main concern, compare the total cost and included content rather than assuming the older title is automatically a better deal.
Use these steps before you buy:
- Confirm the platform. Make sure the product says PS5 or clearly states PS4 compatibility. A PC or PS2 listing will not work as a PS5 game.
- Check the publisher and developer. Cricket 24 and Cricket 22 are Big Ant/Nacon games, not EA Sports titles.
- Compare the modes you care about. Look at career play, match formats, teams, and any included content on the product page.
- Check whether online play matters to you. Read the current store details and look for any stated online requirements or service limitations.
- Review the edition and disc requirements. A digital code, physical disc, or special edition may have different conditions. A PS5 without a disc drive cannot use a game disc.
For many buyers, Cricket 24 is the straightforward starting point because it is the newer of the two games listed here. But an older release can still suit you if it has the modes you want and costs less. Verify the current price and product details in your region rather than relying on an old listing or review.
Will a PS4 cricket game work on PS5?
Many PS4 games run on PS5 through backward compatibility. That does not mean every PS4 title is supported, nor does it mean a PS4 game gains a native PS5 version. Check the PlayStation Store or the game’s official packaging for the supported console before buying.
Also check what kind of PS5 you own. A PS4 disc requires a PS5 model with a disc drive; it cannot be used on a digital-only console unless that console has a compatible, separately available disc drive. Digital purchases are tied to the account and store region where they were bought.
These points do not solve the EA Cricket 07 issue: it was not released as a PS4 game. So the usual PS4-to-PS5 compatibility route does not make Cricket 07 playable on PS5.
How to avoid misleading EA Cricket listings
Search results and resale listings can use broad phrases such as “cricket for PS5” even when the product is a different game, a guide, or a title for another platform. Read the complete product description before purchasing.
- Look for the exact game title and the listed platform.
- Check the publisher; an EA name in a search result does not prove the game is an EA release.
- Be cautious with listings that promise a PS5 download of an old game without identifying an official store or platform version.
- Do not assume that a PS4 disc, PC key, or PS2 game can be installed on PS5.
Practical tip: If you are unsure, search the PlayStation Store on your console and open the game’s product page. Confirm the publisher, supported platform, and edition there before purchasing from a third-party seller.
Could EA release a cricket game for PS5 later?
A future release is possible in theory, but there is no confirmed PS5 edition to buy based on the available official game listings. Rumors, fan-made videos, and unofficial product pages are not proof of an announcement.
If EA announces a cricket game, look for a matching announcement from EA and a PlayStation Store listing that names PS5 as a supported platform. Until then, treat Cricket 24 and Cricket 22 as separate alternatives rather than EA games.
There is no official EA Sports cricket title for PS5, but Cricket 24 and Cricket 22 offer PlayStation cricket options. They are made by Big Ant Studios and published by Nacon, so they are alternatives—not EA releases.
Before buying, check the platform, publisher, edition, and disc requirements on the official store or product page. If you want to play soon, compare the current listings for Cricket 24 and Cricket 22 and choose based on the modes and price that suit you.
