Yes, is nfl preseason on sky sports has a yes answer: Sky Sports shows selected NFL preseason games in the UK, but it does not necessarily carry every matchup. The exact lineup depends on the season’s broadcast schedule.
Here’s how to check which games are on, where to stream them, and what to expect from preseason coverage. You’ll also find alternatives for games that are not listed on Sky.
Is nfl preseason on sky sports every year?
Sky Sports usually includes some preseason games in its NFL coverage, often on Sky Sports NFL. However, the number of games and which teams appear can vary from season to season. A game being part of the NFL preseason does not mean it will automatically be shown on Sky.
Preseason takes place before the regular season, with teams using exhibition games to assess players and prepare their squads. These games can be useful for fans who want an early look at rookies or a team’s new lineup, but starters may play for limited stretches or sit out altogether.
Check the fixture, not just the channel. A channel may carry NFL coverage without showing every preseason game. Look for the specific matchup in Sky’s TV guide or its online sports listings before planning to watch.
Where can you watch an NFL preseason game in the UK?
Your best option depends on whether the game is included in Sky’s schedule and whether you want to watch on a television or online. Sky Sports is the straightforward choice for games it has listed. Other services may carry a wider selection, but their coverage and subscription terms can change.
| Option | What to expect | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Sky Sports NFL | Selected preseason games and other NFL programming, according to the current schedule. | Viewers who already have Sky Sports and want games shown on its channels. |
| Sky Go | Online access to Sky channels for eligible Sky customers, subject to their package and account access. | Sky subscribers watching away from their television. |
| NOW | A streaming option for Sky Sports content with a suitable membership. Check the current offer and included channels. | Viewers who want streaming access without a traditional Sky TV setup. |
| NFL Game Pass on DAZN | An NFL-focused streaming service that may include preseason games not shown on Sky. Confirm the current UK coverage and package details. | Fans looking for broader NFL game coverage in one service. |
Availability can vary by location, device, package, and season. Before subscribing, search for the exact game and confirm that the service lists it for live viewing or replay.
How to check whether a particular game is on Sky
Use these steps close to kickoff, since listings can be updated and preseason schedules are announced in stages.
- Find the matchup and kickoff date. Check the NFL schedule or the teams’ official fixture information so you have the right date and opponent.
- Search Sky’s listings for the game. Check the Sky Sports NFL schedule and the TV guide. Look for the matchup name, not only a general NFL listing.
- Check the start time in UK time. US evening games often begin late at night or in the early hours in the UK. Confirm whether a listing shows the live start or a later program.
- Check your streaming access. If watching online, confirm that your Sky Go or NOW access includes the relevant channel. For another provider, verify the specific fixture is included.
- Look for replay options. If the live start is inconvenient, check whether the provider offers an on-demand replay or highlights.
This routine helps avoid a common mix-up: a preseason game appearing in an NFL schedule does not confirm that Sky has the UK broadcast rights to that particular game.
Why preseason coverage is different from regular-season coverage
Preseason broadcasts are often less consistent than regular-season coverage. Broadcasters select games for their schedules, and some matchups may be available through a league-focused streaming service instead. The selection can change each year, so last season’s channel lineup is not a reliable guide to this season’s games.
The games themselves also differ from regular-season contests. Coaches use them to evaluate players and test combinations, so lineups can change during a game. A star quarterback might play briefly or not appear. If you are tuning in to watch a particular player, check team news rather than assuming that player will take the field.
Preseason results are not part of the regular-season standings. For many fans, the main interest is seeing new players, position battles, and how a team’s offense or defense is developing.
What if the game is not on Sky Sports?
If Sky’s listings do not show the matchup, check whether it is available through NFL Game Pass on DAZN or another service with current UK rights. Coverage, replay access, and subscription conditions can differ, so verify the game before paying for a package.
You can also follow a game through official team or NFL updates, radio coverage where available, or highlights after the final whistle. These options will not provide the same live TV broadcast, but they can help if the game is not available through your subscriptions or starts at an inconvenient hour.
Be cautious with unofficial streaming links. They may be unreliable, unsafe, or unauthorized. A listing from the broadcaster or rights-holder is the clearest way to confirm legitimate access.
Common questions about NFL preseason on Sky
Does Sky Sports show every NFL preseason game?
No. Sky Sports typically shows selected games rather than every preseason matchup. Check the current schedule for the exact game you want to watch.
Which Sky channel shows preseason games?
Sky Sports NFL is the main channel to check, although the schedule determines where a specific game appears. Confirm the channel in the TV guide before kickoff.
Can you stream Sky Sports preseason coverage?
Eligible Sky customers can use Sky Go to stream channels included in their package. NOW may also offer Sky Sports streaming through a suitable membership. Check current access and channel details for your account.
Are NFL preseason games on at UK-friendly times?
Some are, but many US games air late at night or in the early morning in the UK. Convert the listed kickoff time to UK time and check for replay availability if you cannot watch live.
Are preseason games worth watching?
They can be useful if you enjoy tracking rookies, squad decisions, and early tactical changes. Expect rotating lineups and limited playing time for some established starters, so the game may not resemble a regular-season matchup.
Selected NFL preseason games are shown on Sky Sports, but the schedule does not usually cover every game. Check the current Sky Sports NFL listings for the exact matchup, date, and UK kickoff time.
If the game is not listed, compare legitimate streaming options such as NFL Game Pass on DAZN and confirm the fixture is included before subscribing. For a late kickoff, check for an on-demand replay as well.
