when did ea sports golf come out? EA SPORTS PGA TOUR launched worldwide on April 7, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players who bought the Deluxe Edition could start playing three days earlier, on April 4.
The dates can be confusing because the game had early access and its launch was delayed from its original schedule. Here’s how the release dates fit together, which editions offered early access, and how this game relates to EA’s earlier golf titles.
When did ea sports golf come out?
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR officially came out on April 7, 2023. That was the standard launch date across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game was released for PC through the EA app and Steam.
The Deluxe Edition provided early access starting April 4, 2023. So if you saw people playing before April 7, they had not found a separate release date; they had access through that edition’s early-start period.
| Release option | Date | Who it was for | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deluxe Edition early access | April 4, 2023 | Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition | Playing before the standard launch |
| Standard release | April 7, 2023 | Players buying the standard edition | Starting on the public launch date |
Why some players say it released on April 4
April 4 was the early-access start, not the general release date. EA offered that three-day head start with the Deluxe Edition, which is why launch-day reports and player posts may mention different dates.
For a simple answer, use April 7, 2023 as the game’s official release date. Use April 4 only when referring specifically to Deluxe Edition early access.
What platforms did EA SPORTS PGA TOUR launch on?
The game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It was not released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch.
That platform detail matters if you are checking an old console’s store or looking for a disc version. The game was made for newer-generation consoles and PC, so an older console version is not available.
How the 2023 game fits EA’s golf series
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR marked EA’s return to its PGA Tour golf series after a lengthy break. The preceding EA golf release was Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR, which came out in 2015. The newer game is a separate release, not an update or expansion for that earlier title.
EA’s golf games also include the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR series. Those games were part of EA’s earlier golf lineup, but the 2023 release returned to the EA SPORTS PGA TOUR name and used a new game title.
| Game | Release timing | How it relates | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| EA SPORTS PGA TOUR | April 7, 2023 | EA’s return to its PGA Tour golf series | Players looking for EA’s newer golf game |
| Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR | 2015 | The previous EA PGA Tour-branded golf release | Players revisiting EA’s earlier generation of golf games |
| Tiger Woods PGA TOUR series | Earlier releases, including Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 | EA’s preceding golf series featuring Tiger Woods | Players interested in older EA golf titles |
Why the release date changed
EA initially planned to release the new PGA Tour game in spring 2022. The company later delayed it, and the game ultimately arrived in April 2023. That gap between announcement and launch is one reason older articles may list a different expected date.
When checking a release-date reference, look for whether it describes an original target window, a later announced launch date, or the final release. Only the final public launch date identifies when the game actually came out.
What to check before buying or installing
If you are deciding whether to play it now, first confirm that your platform is supported. The game launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, not older console generations.
- Check your platform. Confirm that you have a supported PC or current-generation console.
- Check the edition and store listing. Edition names and available content can differ by platform or region.
- Check what is currently included. A listing may refer to the base game, an edition bundle, or additional content rather than a different release of the game.
One common mix-up is treating early access as the official launch date. If you are comparing reviews, release records, or store listings, April 7 is the date to use for the standard release; April 4 describes the Deluxe Edition head start.
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR came out on April 7, 2023, with Deluxe Edition early access beginning April 4. The game launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
If you are checking whether you can play it, confirm your platform and edition in the store listing before buying. That quick check helps avoid confusing early access, edition content, and the standard release date.
